The train cruises at 80
While the conductors report their positions
And the passengers busy
Themselves with reading and music
And private conversation
And sooner or later the young will become restless
And the students will power up their computers intermittently with text messages from their peers
whom they will see in just a few hours
And I observe them and send out protective meditations
so that safety will reign—
Friend, acquaintance, strangers alike.
