Made Foolish

Fire that reaches around corners
It no longer hides from blind eyes
Gathering people under the earth
Where no one has seen or heard
A perfect isolation that dodges us all
Meaning, confused by those who know
Yet they confound their own understanding
Can there be a gift in times such as these
We breathe, but the air is no longer clean
We drink, but poison flows in our streams
We walk, but the earth crumbles beneath us
It is no longer possible to tell friend from foe
No longer can he eat his lunch or do his job
Without fingers pointing at hatred and deceit
The dark wall rises to bankrupt our hearts

Will we be forever made foolish?
