Always Be

clouds make a blanket in the even sky
bright stars are like glistening eyes
whispering wind carries jasmine scent
aged oaks sway with their great limbs bent
the paths that we follow are hidden in the night
if we can ferret them out with our might
we shall sound the trumpets and horns
alerting all on the planet what he warns
but darkness and tumult we must set aside
war and hatred are not the way:  they lied
we must love and accept the differences so small
hold our neighbors’ hands, the stranger so tall
that we give to each person, just like me

and our future, so sure, ‘twill always be
