On My Face

If only it were placed in my memory
That delightful things brightened my childhood
I could float through life on the mysteries
Of passion and travel through faraway lands
But the smell of evil remains buried
In the lost recesses of my temporal stores
And the darkened caves that see no daylight
Would fare just as well if I never toured there.
So I take one day at a time, one deep breath,
And keep my eyes facing forward
Where the sun shines forever on my face.
