Munch

 Nibble, nibble, crunch, crunch

We love to eat, love to munch

Sugary sweet things, salty, too

Candy, popcorn, Mountain Dew

Chips of potatoes or of corn

Not having any makes us forlorn

Apples, peaches, berries and pop

Stepping on the scale won’t make us stop

Snack on cakes and cookies and pie

And other bakery puffs, oh my

Gotta fill the tank again

So down the gullet with five or ten

Carrots and celery, no, no, no

Calories are what make us go

Nibble, nibble, crunch, cruch

We love to eat, love to munch

Dark of Night

Even in the dark the familiar remains so

Walking through the house with no lights

We still can navigate without calamity

And get to where we’re going

What sense is it that guides us there?

So few bruised shins as we thread the needle

Of our pre-mapped design in our minds

Is there light within our memories

To guide us, or perhaps we sense objects

Being able to skirt around them, slowly

Of course, there is no telling why

We should be wandering about

In the dark of night without putting on a light

But here we are, perhaps having heard a noise

And perhaps we are routing a thief

Who stumbled into the wrong door

Or that necessary trip to the bathroom

All good reasons to be up and about

In that dark of night
