The pool ripples as the waterfall plummets
From high cliffs frequented by eagles
Who watch for fish flying off the ledge
And wriggling through the air as they drop
Along with the spray of water and rainbows
Caught mid-air by grasping talons
Carried away to nests of hungry hatchlings
High among the tallest trees in safe, heavy nests
That protect the chirping babies so rare
Their beaks open, awaiting a morning meal
While the sun speaks to the sky a “good day.”
